This fall, Andris Nelsons leads the Boston Symphony Orchestra in an all-Rachmaninoff program featuring Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Symphony No. 2, joined by pianist Seong-Jin Cho.

Nelsons is a frequent collaborator with the South Korean pianist, who rose to international prominence after winning First Prize at the XVII International Chopin Piano Competition in 2015 at age 20. The pair reunite at Symphony Hall for Sergei Rachmaninoff’s final work for piano and orchestra, the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, a showpiece demanding breathtaking technical virtuosity and luminous lyricism. Completing the program is the composer’s 1908 Symphony No. 2 in E minor, celebrated as a lush, sweeping pinnacle of the Late Romantic symphonic canon.

The concert series runs from September 30 through October 3 at Symphony Hall.
