This October, Music Director Andris Nelsons leads the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall in a dynamic program featuring violinist Hilary Hahn and cellist Seth Parker Woods.

Hahn and Woods will collaborate in a new BSO co-commissioned double concerto composed specifically for them by BSO Deborah and Philip Dawson Composer Chair Carlos Simon. Simon’s vibrant, expressive musical language provides a compelling vehicle for the virtuosity and conversational interplay between the two soloists and the orchestra.

Nelsons also leads the orchestra in two dramatic theatrical scores by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: the Polonaise and selections from the opera Eugene Onegin, Op. 24, alongside brilliant character dances from the festive ballet The Nutcracker, Op. 71. Nelsons’s interpretations of Tchaikovsky have garnered widespread critical acclaim for their architectural scope and theatrical atmosphere, with the Boston Classical Review praising his ability to render Russian masterworks with a spacious, layered, and texturally rich palette.

Performances take place October 15-17 at Symphony Hall.
