Rachmaninoff and Dvořák with the Gewandhaus Orchestra

On September 4 and 6, Andris Nelsons will return to the Gewandhaus Orchestra, where he is Music Director, to conduct a program of Rachmaninoff and Dvořák, featuring acclaimed pianist Mao Fujita. The concert marks the opening of the orchestra’s 246th season.

Nelsons has been widely praised for his interpretations of Rachmaninoff’s music, with The Boston Musical Intelligencer complimenting his balance of “the varied, complex orchestral colors.”

The full program includes Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30, a speech by Saša Stanišić called READ THE SIGNS, and Dvořák’s 7th Symphony in D minor op. 70.
