Debussy, Wagner, and Berlioz in Munich

Andris Nelsons returns to Munich’s Isarphilharmonie on June 12 and 13, where he will lead the Munich Philharmonic in an expansive program of music by Debussy, Wagner, and Berlioz. Nelsons is a frequent guest conductor with the orchestra, and their performances together have been described by Süddeutsche Zeitung as “Exciting, inspiring, profound, gripping.”

The concert opens with Debussy’s impressionist masterpiece, Prélude à ‘L’Après-midi d’un Faune, followed by Wagner’s romantic Wesendonck Lieder, featuring acclaimed American soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen. The concert closes with Berlioz’s opium-fueled tale of longing, Symphonie fantastique.
