Mendelssohn: Symphonies & Oratorios
On their new album, recent GRAMMY winner Andris Nelsons and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig perform a compilation of Mendelssohn’s Oratorios and Symphonies.
The album pays homage to Leipzig, the city at the core of Mendelssohn’s artistic identity. The release further marks the first full-length rendition of “Paulus,” a remarkably formative score that had so far been absent from the DG catalogue. Nelsons is joined by a stellar cast of soloists for the vocal works including Andrè Schuen, Golda Schultz and Georg Zeppenfeld.
The album is released digitally and as a 7CD Box Set.
