Asia tour with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig

Today, Andris Nelsons and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig start their three-week Asia tour. With dates in Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan, the orchestra will partner with world-class soloists Mao Fujita and Seong-Jin Cho for two captivating programmes.

For today’s concert, the first in the tour calendar, Andris Nelsons and the GHO will present a repertoire comprising Mendelssohn’s “Melusine” Overture, Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor featuring Mao Fujita, and Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony No. 3. Tomorrow’s program at the National Taichung Theater, will include the Overture and Liebestod from Wagner’s “Tristan & Isolde,” as well as Bruckner’s 9th Symphony.

Subsequent concerts will be held in Taichung and Taipei before moving on to South Korea, where the orchestra and Maestro Nelsons will be joined by Seong-Jin Cho for performances in Seoul and Daegu.

The tour’s final leg includes two concerts at Tokyo’s iconic Suntory Hall before concluding in Sapporo.
