Andris Nelsons and Håkan Hardenberger Perform the US Premiere of Widmann’s new trumpet concerto

Håkan Hardenberger will play the US premiere of Jörg Widmann’s new trumpet concerto, ‘Towards Paradise (Labyrinth VI)’ with Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra tonight at Symphony Hall, Boston.

Co-commissioned by the Boston Symphony and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig as part of the orchestral alliance between the two orchestras, this work received it’s world premiere on September 23 2021 in Leipzig with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, also with Nelsons and Hardenberger. Tonight in Boston, this piece is programmed with Mahler’s Symphony No. 1.
