The Gewandhausorchester streams concerts featuring Andris Nelsons

As the global community comes together in this time of crisis, the Gewandhausorchester continues to share recordings of performances by the orchestra with its partner Accentus Music every week. In light of current times, the Gewandhausorchester makes it possible for listeners to participate in these cultural offerings and contributes to the cohesion of our society through the power of music.

All of the streamed performances are available on the listed day starting at 12 noon and are available for 24 hours free of charge. The following concerts featuring Andris Nelsons will be available to stream via the Gewandhausorchester:

Thursday, April 16, 2020 – With pianist Lauma Skride. Recorded in 2019. Program: Betsey Jolas’ Letters from Bachville; Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor; Robert Schumann’s First Symphony (“Spring Symphony”).

Thursday, May 7, 2020 – With violinist Baiba Skride. Recorded in 2018. Program: Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto.

Friday, May 8, 2020 – Recorded in 2018. Program: Mozart’s Symphony No. 40.

Thursday, June 4, 2020 – With trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger. Recorded in 2019. Program: Mussorgsky’s Dawn on the Moscow River, Prelude to “Khovanshchina”; Mieczyslaw Weinberg’s Trumpet Concerto.

Friday, June 5, 2020 – Recorded in 2019. Program: Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.

Thursday, June 11, 2020 – With soloist Christianne Stotijn. Recorded in 2016. Program: Wagner’s Five Songs on Poems by Mathilde Wesendonck (“Wesendonck-Lieder”).
Friday, June 12, 2020 – Recorded in 2019. Program: Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5.

Friday, June 26, 2020 – With pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Recorded at the 2018 Klassik airleben. Program: works by George Gershwin and John Williams.

Saturday, June 27, 2020 – with soloists Kristine Opolais and Thomas Hampson. Recorded at the 2019 Klassik airleben. Program: works by Rossini, Verdi, and Puccini.
