Andris Nelsons and BSO close 24/25 season
This week, Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra round off Nelsons’ 10th season as music director in style, with performances of Berlioz’ dramatic symphony “Romeo & Juliette”. Featuring a large chorus and three soloists, Berlioz’ take on Shakespeare’s immortal love story marks the end to a memorable season.
The 23/24 season started with a hugely successful European Summer Festival tour and included numerous highlights, including performances of Shostakovich’s opera “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk” at Symphony Hall and in New York, as well as the recent performances of Messiaen’s Turangalila-Symphonie, a work premiered by the BSO over 70 years ago. Maestro Nelsons’ concerts in Boston also featured numerous premieres, commissions, and collaborations with soloists such as Hilary Hahn, Yuja Wang, Randall Goosby, Seong-Jin Cho, Sol Gabetta, and many more.
