2021 Tanglewood Music Festival with Andris Nelsons and the BSO

Andris Nelsons is thrilled to return to the Tanglewood Music Festival for their 2021 season this month. After being shuttered in summer 2020 due to the global pandemic, the festival welcomes back concert-goers for in-person performances beginning July 9 through August 16. This season, Nelsons will lead the Boston Symphony Orchestra for six concerts.

For his first concert, Nelsons conducts the BSO in an all-Beethoven program on July 10, featuring world-renowned pianist Emanuel Ax. On July 11, he leads a program featuring violinist Baiba Skride performing Sibelius’ Violin Concerto paired with Dvořák’s Sixth Symphony. Additonally, he presents two programs featuring pianists: Daniil Trifonov performing Brahms’ First Concerto on July 17, and Lucas and Arthur Jussen performing Mozart’s Concerto in E-flat for two pianos on July 18. On July 24, Nelsons and John Williams will co-conduct a concert featuring the world premiere of his Violin Concerto No. 2 performed by Anne-Sophie Mutter. His final performance will take place on July 25, presenting a stunning program of works by Iman Habibi, Beethoven, and Schumann, featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Yefim Bronfman.
