Beethoven cycle with the Wiener Philharmoniker in Vienna, Hamburg, Hannover

Andris Nelsons joins the Wiener Philharmoniker for a series of concerts conducting works by Beethoven in Vienna, Hamburg, and Hannover. On March 29, 30, 31, at the Musikverein, and April 4 at the Vienna Konzerthaus, Nelsons conducts Beethoven’s Fourth and Fifth Symphonies, a companion of works to begin the Beethoven cycle.

The second program of the tour includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 and 2, and his Tripelkonzert, a concerto for violin, cello, and piano, with additional soloists including cellist Tamás Varga, violinist Albena Danailova, and pianist Rudolf Buchbinder. Performances of the second program will take place at the Musikverein on April 6 & 7, at the Elbphilharmonie on April 8, and conclude on April 9 at the Hannover Congress Centrum.

Andris Nelsons will conduct the ensemble’s famous New Year’s Concert in Vienna on January 1, 2020. Held at the Musikverein, the concert concludes a series of three concerts which mainly focus on music of the Strauss family and their contemporaries. The New Year’s Concert is broadcast in over 90 countries and is watched by over 40 million viewers across the world. This will be the first time that Andris Nelsons will conduct at this prestigious international event.
