GRAMMY Award Win for “Shostakovich Under Stalin’s Shadow: Symphonies Nos. 5, 8, and 9″ album with the Boston Symphony Orchestra

Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s critically lauded Deutsche Grammophon release of “Shostakovich Under Stalin’s Shadow: Symphonies Nos. 5, 8, and 9 – Suite from Hamlet” has been honored with a 2017 GRAMMY Award in the Best Orchestral Performance category. Nelsons and the BSO were also recipients of a GRAMMY in 2016 in the same category, for “Shostakovich: Under Stalin’s Shadow – Lady Macbeth Of The Mtsensk District, Op.29 / Act 2 – Passacaglia / Symphony No. 10.”

Boston Globe Feature: “It’s unbelievable and such a great honor,” Nelsons told the Globe by phone immediately following his win. “The music of Shostakovich has touched people, and touched the human heart. That’s the biggest accomplishment for us musicians.”
